The original American device designed by Boxclever had reached end of life, and was updated to allow the payment device to be removed when not in use. The Samsung phone is always protected in a hard cover, only being used as a POS system when on the aircraft.
Thomas Cook opted for a device per aircraft model. A Huawei Mediapad tablet was integrated into a book-style sled, with a removeable Bluepad500 payment device and printer. The Sled can be used in the hand, or by folding out a clip to attach it to a trolley, making it an easy-to-use sales terminal for the crew.
