HKC
Bellbox
Background
Security alarm systems sit at an interesting junction between consumer and professional products. While the consumer pays for the product, they have limited or no choice of the brand and model to be installed. Ease of install, security, function, cost, modularity and durability are the focus of the installer, aesthetically the focus is the consumer who will approve the install. HKC wanted a lit external siren to indicate both that the house is alarmed and to advertise the security company.
Design Approach
Lit bell boxes are not common in Ireland, for the UK a new approach was needed, while maintaining the current easy branding of each siren. HKC sell to a large number of installers, each one has their own logo which needs to be printed on the front cover. This results in a large minimum order quality, by using flat diffusing lenses, printing is quicker and easier. This lens is then clicked into place before the final install. Secure snap details capture the lens, so once closed the lens cannot be removed.
Sirens come with various electronic setups, wireless, wired, single speaker, dual speaker, dummy and combinations of each. The installer can easily change the internal module onsite to suit the install requirements, or order parts separately to swap out electronics after install. The internal electronics enclosure is designed as compact as possible to reduce space for holding stock.
