Auto Water Shut-off
Background
Activalve is the smart user-friendly replacement for the common mains water stop-cock. The device is temperature sensitive, so will automatically turn the mains water supply off if the temperature drops low enough for pipes to freeze and rupture. This is done without the need for power or batteries.
Activalve came to Boxclever with a prototype that wasn’t properly functional. We re-engineered the mechanism to make it work and make it manufacturable. Gearing and spring were optimised so that it could be reset easily using the handle, while keeping actuation reliability at low temperatures.
